Mahopac fifth graders recently came together for the district’s annual elementary track meet, continuing a long-standing tradition of friendly competition, teamwork and school spirit.
The event, which has been held for more than 30 years, brought together students from the district’s elementary schools for a day of athletic activities and sportsmanship. Families and staff filled the stands throughout the morning to cheer on the student-athletes.
“The fifth graders worked incredibly hard preparing for this event, and it’s always rewarding to see them come together and support one another,” physical education teacher Bill Huestis said. “The track meet is about much more than competition. It’s about sportsmanship, teamwork and creating memories our students will carry with them long after elementary school.”
District officials said the annual event continues to be a meaningful tradition that gives students an opportunity to challenge themselves, encourage their peers and enjoy a special day with classmates, teachers and families.
